newman-os

Newman’s Own Organics was established as a division of Newman’s Own in 1993, and became a separate company in late 2001. Paul Newman has given over $350 million to thousands of charities worldwide since 1982.

Would you like to know how Newman’s Own Organics came about?

“Newman-O’s, a delicious addition to Newman’s Own Organics cookie line. “Dad’s name has been in lights – and now it’s on our cookies, too.” states Nell. The cream filled chocolate delight is easily recognized by the distinctive package featuring “Pa” and Nell Newman in American Gothic dress and its accompanying courtly sentiments.”

Ode to Newman-O’s You might, m’lady tweak my nose. You could, m’lord step on my toes. But Heaven help those poor bozos, who try to filch my Newman-O’s

Newman-O’s cream filled chocolate cookies come in 6 flavors: Wheat Free Dairy Free, Hint O’ Mint, Original, Ginger ‘n’ Cream, Chocolate and Peanut Butter.
Our family tried the Original and Hint O’ Mint. I was impress with the flavor and texture of the Original, along with knowing my family was enjoying a organic cookie make the choice easy. We are switching to Newman-O’s Original Cookies in our home. The Hint O’ Mint cookies were good, however our family was simply not a big fan of any mint flavored cookie.

newmans own signature_chocolate

“Newman’s Own Signature Series line of Chocolate Bars is formulated with some of the finest Certified Organic chocolate we’ve ever tasted, made from cocoa beans grown on Rainforest Alliance Certified farms.”

The chocolate bars are available in two sizes: 3.25 & 2.25 ounce, in the following flavors: Orange Dark Chocolate, Milk Chocolate, Super Dark Chocolate 70% Cocoa, Dark Chocolate, Mocha Milk Chocolate and Espresso Dark Chocolate.

I will admit I’m not a fan of dark chocolate (gasp) but I did try each and every flavor listed above. Surprise, surprise the Milk chocolate was my favorite, with the Mocha Milk Chocolate making it in at a close second. Then rounding out my choices were the Espresso Dark Chocolate and the Orange Dark Chocolate. I must confess I would have enjoyed each of the two previous flavors more if they had been milk chocolate.

I know the Dark Chocolate fans out there would love the Newman’s Own Organics Dark Chocolate favor. How could you not. Each being made from the finest organic cocoa beans ending in a rich and smooth creamy chocolate bar that is simply out of this world in flavor.

newmans own_cups

“Three cups per 1.2 ounce package, there are five flavors to choose from: Peanut Butter in Dark Chocolate or Milk Chocolate, a delicious Dark Chocolate Peppermint Cup and a rich Caramel cup rounding out the selection in either Dark Chocolate or Milk Chocolate. All five carry Rainforest Alliance Certification. Both Caramel cups carry the USDA Seal.”

Ok, for those of you who read my blog will recall I’m a huge fan of milk chocolate and coffee. With that being said I have to say the Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter and Caramel cups are now rating at the top of my list of favorites. The milk chocolate melts into creamy smooth goodness with peanut butter or caramel to round out the taste sensation.

newmans own figs

“With Nell’s recipe and Paul’s inspiration, the first fig bar made with organic figs, organic sugar, organic flour, and without hydrogenated oils was created.”

Fig Newman’s are available in: Fat Free, Low Fat and Wheat-Free/Dairy-Free.

This was yet another big hit in our home. Soft, moist and delicious. They also stayed fresh in our cookie jar for several days.

anewmans own-pretzels

“Newman’s Own carries the perfect pretzel for every occasion. In fact they have ten varieties to choose from. And since they’re baked (not fried), the pretzels make a great low-fat, healthy snack with only 1 to 1.5 gram fat (no trans-fat).”

Spelt • Salted Sticks • High Protein • Unsalted Rounds • Rods Thin Sticks •Salted Rounds • Honey Wheat Mini Salted Thins • Mighty Mini

Our family found the pretzels tasty. Light on the salt which was a plus for our family. I also really like the fact they are smaller in size which works out great for small hands.

newmans own mints_new

Organic mints in four flavors have been added to Newman’s Own Organics’ product line. The Cinnamon, Ginger, Peppermint and Wintergreen varieties are packed in eye-catching 1.76 ounce tins with colorful cover designs designating their flavor. They carry the USDA organic seal on the back ingredient panel.”

“All flavors in both the tins and rolls are made from organic sugar, organic corn syrup, gum arabic and natural flavors. Three pieces (2.0g) contain ten calories with 2g of sugar and no total fat, sodium or protein.”

The Cinnamon Mints were one of my all time favorite Newman’s Own Organics products I was able to try. I’m a fan of cinnamon so this was a perfect fit. The flavor is robust and satisfying. The texture is different than your normal roll mints. A little rough in when first placed in your mouth, but I actually think that is a bit of the draw for me. I like the fact they are organic and love the taste.

“When I was a kid I loved licorice because it was so much fun to eat. I loved the chewy texture, and you could stretch it and tie it in knots, or bite off the ends and blow through it”, said Nell Newman, co-founder and president of Newman’s Own Organics.”

In three flavors: Black Licorice, Pomegranate and Strawberry.

“Licorice twists are the most popular kind of licorice candy and the organic sugar and sour crystals, derived from natural citrus sources, on the surface of the twists provides the special taste in four tantalizing flavors: Sour Strawberry, Sour Cherry, Sour Mango and Sour Apple. With the popularity of our regular twists in Black, Strawberry, and Pomegranate.”

I will start off by saying not one of my grandchildren is crazy about sour candy. However the Strawberry original licorice twist were great. Wonderful chewy texture with out the waxy taste you can find in some licorice type candies. They are in a nice smaller sized package so I didn’t need to worry about the candy drying out. Which is great. Seriously some time we can open any product be it candy, cookies, crackers etc and the bag will be gone in no time flat. Other days it will sit around until I have to toss it out, which is a waste of money. I like the smaller bags allowing portion control as well.
