Do You Have A Fear Of… Unwanted House Guest aka Pests?
Our family lives several miles out-of-town in a rural area. Therefore I have a year-round battle of will against unwanted-pests.
In the spring just when the ground is starting to thaw and the cool fresh air of spring calls to my inner turbo cleaning mode “open the windows”. This is about the time I start to see… spiders.

I’m not really a big fan of spiders, however I don’t normally freak out about them either. Unless, the are hunk-en huge. We’re talking BIG BAD HAIRY type. Then I will take a pass at disposing of said spider and wait for the carvery to arrive. Since I know I will be seeing spiders in our home (in a wooded area). I try to take precautions by keeping the areas I know I’ve seen spider webs in the past super clean. I want to prevent any new “friends” from moving in.
Throughout the summer months we have a big problem with red wasps. I don’t mean a few. We have them every where in the hot months of summer. I tried bated traps last summer. I did not catch one wasp. This is one pest I could surely do without. Know on wood it has been several years since I’ve been stung, but I remember the experience. Not looking for a repeat/refresher course.
Then we also have snakes outdoors in the warm summer months and early fall until the weather starts to cool off. Snakes I have no problem with. (Crazy I know). I’ve never been one to shy away from taking care of an unwanted snake our picking one up that needs to find a new home.
Well here we are getting started with fall. This will bring about an entirely different array of unwanted house guest aka pests. The worst of the lot is… mice!!! Yep, I typed it and trembled with fear as I typed it out. I will admit it. “I Bonnie am terrified…TERRIFIED of MICE”. My emotions run the gauntlet. From a slight tremble. Breaking out in a sweat. Crying. Gasping for air. Fainting. Leaping from floor to table/cabinet/washer top in a single bound (don’t ask how I do this and can not walk with out the aid of my arm crutch. I do no know).

Every fall they, and by they I mean my mortal enemy mice try to find a foot hold in our country home. Just last week I could hear one in the early predawn hours. I have set traps. Put out bait. Sealed every possible entrance. Yet still, the field mice try to find a warm winter condo area in our home. Ugh!
In the cold months of winter we rarely have any pest problems. Maybe a stray mouse (insert shiver) or a possible spider. This making the cold winters here in the Ozarks a relatively pest free time.
