Preparing a Meal at the End of a Long Day Can Sometimes be Challenging.
Ironing…. pfft I don’t think so.
Yesterday I started beef tips in the crock pot early in the morning so I would not need to worry about dinner at the end of the day. I’m certainly glad I did too because I was so tired I retired early (just after 7 pm).
I pulled my beef tips from the freezer (no I did not thaw them before hand). I pulled my crock pot out an added about 1/2 cup of water to the bottom of the crock pot bowl. Then I placed a crock pot liner (bag) inside resting on the water with the sided of the bag hanging over the outside, which makes clean up a breeze! Next I added my frozen beef tips, then I sprinkled on a few spices my family likes such as salt and pepper. Next I place about 3 tablespoons of flour into a jar (I have on hand for this purpose) along with 2 cups of cold water. Put the lid on the jar and shake until all the flour is absorbed into the water and NO lumps are remaining (perfect gravy every-time ladies), now pour the gravy mix over the beef tips. Then I pulled the edge of the bag up to close the bag which I personally hold closed with a wooden clothes pin. Then I placed the lid on, turned the crock pot on and walked away.
This simmers and cooks all day long.
While I’m pulling the rest of my dinner together I open the top of the bag and let the gravy thicken up in the crock pot.
Now for the really simple part. Last night I used Minute Ready to Serve Rice which is ready to serve in 1 1/2 minutes!
I placed my rice on the plate then ladled beef tips and gravy over the rice. Severed with a salad and dinner was exactly that easy.
